What a bunch of Crock!

Ever since we moved up here, I have been trying to get in the habit of doing a crock pot meal every Sunday. Honestly, the idea of making a delicious Sunday dinner for just two of us can be a little daunting and I don't want to spend the entirety of my Sunday cooking. Shortly after we moved up here, Sterling bought me a little crock pot from Target for $20.

Best $20 we ever spent.

One of our favorite recipes that we tried with the crock pot was a Cola Roast. My good friend Trista lent me her cookbook 101 Things to Do With a Crock Pot, and that's where I found this recipe. In good time too, because Sterling was craving a good Roast! This was so easy, anyone can do it. Put it in the crock in the morning and by six o'clock your mouth will be watering!

Here's what you'll need:

3 pound Beef Roast
1 packet Dry Onion Soup Mix
2 cans (12 ounces each) of Cocoa Cola (diet cola will NOT work! Use regular!)

Put your roast into a greased Crock Pot, then sprinkle it with the onion soup mix. Next, pour the cola all over the roast. Cover it and cook on low heat for 7-8 hours.

Sterling likes his roast with mashed potatoes and carrots. We added the carrots into the crock about 2 hours before it was done.

I hope you enjoy this meal as much as we did!

Rexburg, Home Sweet Home

I'm getting really bad at updating this thing. Well several months have come and gone and Sterling and I have been married for almost six months. We spent the first couple months living with Sterling's sweet mom while we got ready to move to Rexburg. On April 11th, we moved into our first apartment at the Stonebrook Apartment community. It's a cute and small one bedroom apartment and while sometimes I wish we lived somewhere bigger, it's perfect for us. We live in a fantastic married student ward and I have been called to be a Relief Society Teacher and Sterling is a home teacher.

Sterling is working hard at school toward his Software Engineering degree and I couldn't be more proud of him! On top of going to school full time, he has started tutoring this kid, Karl, in his networking class. The little extra money has really been helping pay bills and Karl's grades are improving so it's definitely a win-win situation for everyone.

I am now working as a Customer Service Rep at Melaleuca. I have to say that this is by far the best company I have ever worked for. We sell great products that I use all the time and I wish more people knew about them! But more about that later. The team I work with is like a second family and I'm making a lot of friends. We have a lot of fun and goof around a lot at work, but we still work really hard. I survived my first Month End 12 hour shift on Thursday and I have to say I'm still recovering. However, I think that now I have one under my belt, I can take on the rest with much more grace.

We have big dreams for our future. We want to start a family like any newly married couple does but because we have infertility issues, we realize we have to put those dreams off for a few years until we can afford treatments and/or adoption. For now, we have our hearts set on getting our first furbaby. We really want to get a female Shih Tzu since she would be the perfect size for our little apartment and would be easy to travel with. Sterling and I are planning on getting our first puppy around Christmas and I am so excited!!

Anyways, Rexburg is starting to grow on me now that I have a job and have met a few people I can call my friends. It is definitely a far cry different than our home in the Valley. It's a small little town and made up mostly of BYU-I students. I really do like that I know most of the people I work with and go to Church with are going through the same things that I am. Everyone I have met thus far are extremely nice and always willing to help or give a smile. However, I miss the warm sunshine and having our pick of restaurants to choose from and recreational activities to do. Most of all, I miss my family. Words cannot describe how much I miss them. My mom and dad, my sister and brother in law...and of course my three adorable nephews, soon to be four.

We are still adjusting and dreaming big dreams and making plans for our future.

Time for me to climb into bed.
Sweet Sleep <3

We're ENGAGED!

So I realize it's been a while since I updated. But I have news (it's a tad old but I thought I should document it.)

STERLING AND I ARE GETTING MARRIED!

Yup, that's right! Sterling asked me to be his wife on July 26, 2011 at the Mesa Arizona Temple. I knew it was coming but he did catch me by surprise! He took me to the spot he asked me to be his girlfriend and got down on one knee and proposed. Of course, I said yes and we have been planning non-stop!

We will be getting sealed in the temple on December 21, 2011 and after we get back from going to Disneyland for our honeymoon, we will be moving up to Rexburg, Idaho together. There, he will continue going to school and get his degree in Software Engineering.

Let's start at the beginning!

You know those movies where girl meets boy and the girl isn't really impressed, but after thinking about it she gives the guy a chance? Well that's how Sterling Grant and I met! We went to the same game nights held by a mutual friend, and one night we were playing a game called signs and I passed the "sign" to Sterling because no one else was. Well, he didn't take the sign and I ended having to go in the middle. Right then I thought, "What a jerk!"

I didn't even know his name yet. Then my friend Jordan told me he had found someone for me. I thought, "Whatever. I doubt it'll work. I hate being set up." So one day after work I planned on meeting up with Jordan and Mikel to hang out and go to another friend's birthday party. Jordan decided not to tell me that Sterling was coming along. When Sterling got out of the car, I recognized him as the guy that didn't pass the sign! I was furious. I gave him the cold shoulder the whole night and Jordan told me that I should just give him a chance. So later that night after we all went home, I texted Sterling and told him I was sorry for being so cold towards him.

The next Monday, we arranged to go to lunch after I got off work. We went to Red Robin for lunch and talked the whole time. After that, we went back to my house and watched three movies and still talked the whole time. It was after dark now and we went for a short drive and came back to my house. We went into my backyard, and went over to where my trampoline was. We looked at the stars for a while and he was holding me the whole time because it was so cold outside! Then....he finally kissed me!! :D It was then and there I knew I found the person I was going to spend the rest of my life with.

Sterling asked me to be his girlfriend on Valentine's Day, 2011 and we have been together ever since! He is now up in Rexburg, Idaho going to school at BYU-I, getting his degree in Software engineering with a minor and business.

This is our love story and we'd like to share it with you. <3
